What I love....

Today I was/am having a grumpy day. It is Monday, and I had to work, and my work has been way frusterating today! Then I got a migraine and I am trying to eat healthy so I had to eat a grapefruit for breakfast instead of sugary ceral and I couldn't eat any chocolate today. AND my house is a total mess and I literally have five loads of laundry to fold. Today was not my day.
So sometimes it helps to think of things I love. I went around and took pictures of all the things that I love. I guess I could have got some of them online and they would have been better pics and you wouldn't see my messy home in the background, but that would have defeated the purpose of making me happy.

Things I love in picture list.
{In no particular order, just the order I found them}

Pop! Pop! Pop!

Look what I got....
A brand new popcorn popper!
This is a gift from my mom for Christmas.
I had one before that, that my mom had actually given me for a wedding shower present.
See I really love popcorn, but not so much the microwave stuff, mostly the homemade kind.
And I make it a lot!
So on Halloween when my husband and I went to sit down and have serial killer documentary night (yes that is how we spent our Halloween, and no, I am not creepy) I wanted to pop some popcorn to make this really yummy popcorn recipe that my mom makes (which I will get to later) my popcorn machine broke. It made this really loud noise and wouldn't pop the kernals, it just burnt the kernals. Well I was not pleased, not pleased at all. I really wanted that popcorn cause it was going to be a tradition that I made it every Halloween. I even tried popping popcorn on the stove, which I didn't even know how to do, and that ended not so well. So I eventually, after like an hour, gave up. But only after a lot of grumbling... And I could have bought another popcorn popper another night, I just didn't feel like buying another popper.
But my lovely mom bought me another one, hooray. Thanks mom!
Last night I took it out and finally got to have some homemade popcorn goodness.

Here is my mom's delicious marshmallow popcorn recipe that I talked about above. I didn't make it last night, I wanted something salty, not sweet. Plus I have way too many sweets in my house already. So the above pics are just regular butter popcorn. But this recipe is super duper fabulous and easy. I usually don't like sweet popcorn, kettle corn, that stuff is sick! But this kind I really love. My hubby ate it a few years ago for the first time and I swear he talked about it for a year...

Mom's Marshmallow Popcorn
1 cup unpopped popcorn kernels
3 c. mini marshmallows
1 c. salted peanuts
1 c. melted butter
1 c. sugar
1 /2 c. karo light corn syrup

In a sauce pan melt butter, sugar, and karo syrup, simmer 3 minutes stirring constantly. In the mean time pop the popcorn kernals and place popped corn in large bowl. Pour the melted sugar/syrup mix all over the popcorn, stir in peanuts and mini marshmallows.
My mom usually makes this on Halloween, so she puts in a Halloween candy mix. With  like candy corn and those pumpkins and stuff in it. Its really good that way. You could put like jelly beans or any candy you wish really.

Clock = Chalkboard

So I had this clock that we got for our wedding and it was super cute and I loved it. But we have always had problems with it keeping time. At first it just went through batteries super super quickly. But then about six months ago it wouldn't tell time at all, it was always off. The second hand would still move and so would the other hands, but it just wouldn't keep real time. It was super annoying. But it was cute so I kept it up there. But for Christmas my father-in law gave us a new clock, hooray! So I hung it up where the old one had been. But I still thought this clock was cute, so I wanted to keep it...

{Old clock}

So I had this great plan to put scrapbooking paper over it and then put some vinyl words on it.
But the vinyl lettering I had didn't fit. And I dont have a cricuit or silhouette so I couldn't just make one that fit.... So I moved to plan B.
I still had a ton of Chalkboard paint left over from all my old Christmas projects so I took that out and painted the glass with the chalkboard paint.

{Clock after first coat}
I took off the outer parts of course, I am sloppy and totally would have got paint all over it.
Second coat drying...
Yes, that is wrapping paper under it. I didnt have any newspaper and I had to put something down. And I had all these smaller scraps of wrapping paper that was there, it worked.

Voila! The finished product. It looks pretty good. I wrote a bit crooked, I have a hard time writing straight, so it makes the clock look crooked, but its not. But not its a cute sayings chalkboard.
I might make it a menu board and put it in my kitchen, I haven't decided yet...

Happy 1-1-11

I have loved this year. It has been a wonderful year. But I have a ton of things planned for 2011 so I am excited to move on.

But for 2010 many things happened.

In January my family moved out of state. I grew up in Utah, I have never lived outside the state and neither had my parents but when my dad was out of work for a long time in 2009 he couldn't pass up a great job offer, even if it was in New Mexico... So off they went. That was a huge adjustment for me, but honestly they visit a ton and its only ten hours away. But still, New Mexico?? I used to forget that state was even there, and Its the state right under mine. I bet the rest of the U.S. doesn't know it even exists. You never hear anything about that state. But maybe that is what people say about Utah too...

My family.
{Jeremy, Me, sister, mom, Dad, Brother}

In March we visited my family in New Mexico. Its a pretty place. They have a ton of haunted churches. All of which were closed before I could explore. And there are many, many Native American casinos there for your enjoyment. Not that I was old enough to gamble at the time....

The hubs and I in N.M.  This is the oldest building in the U.S. {Crazy}
This is outside a haunted church in N.M.

On May 2nd the hubs and I celebrated our one year anniversary! We went to a fancy little B & B and I got to go shopping! It was a lovely time.

In July I turned 21! Whoot Whoot.
Yes, I am young, don't judge.
{I am blowing out the candles, that is why my face looks weird. And its brownies, I'm not a huge cake person}

I briefly got addicted to game shows and tried to get on this one...
{Me and my sis-in law, Sam}
I entered us online to be contestants but they are mean and never called. Jerks.

I saw this beautiful man in concert with my lovely friend Addison.
Oh Tim McGraw, you are a hunk. But I am not a fan of your newer music, I stick to your old stuff.
We got free tickets and we were on the eighth row. We could touched the stage before the concert.
{Touching the stage}

In August I started this blog! And I have loved it.

In October we went and stayed in Park City, UT for a night.

This movie came out!!

My hubs, Jeremy has completed two semesters of school. One more year to go until he is an accountant!!

I made four scrapbooks this year! Holy cow I am a scrapbooking maniac. Basically I just get bored while I work and I can scrapbook while working, so its a good way to pass the time.

{scrapbook page, do you like my pink xbox controller in the background?}

Last night for New Years we went to my aunt's and played two games of clue and then after midnight I came home and went to bed. I don't stay up past midnight very often, its too late!

More pics from 2010

{Cooking Chinese food}

{Dressed up as a PAC-MAN board for Halloween}

Witches night out!

We went to Lagoon (a amusement park in Utah-- the only one here) twice this year. This is us with Jeremy's family.

And yes, I do kind of wear that shirt alot. At least when I am in pics it looks like I do...
In my defense it is a comfy shirt and I can wear it with leggings, which are the clothes of the gods!

What i have been working on!

 I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. I had a blast. And I was totally spoiled by my husband and the rest of my family.
I have been sooo busy lately. I have had my family in town visiting here from their home in New Mexico and I have been crafting away like a madman.
So here is a glimpse of what I have been working on.
I made a bunch of these ribbon rosettes like the one in my giveaway last week. I made more for my sister too.

Here are all my fabric rosettes that I made over the last week. I made a few more, but these are just the ones I am selling on my etsy shop. Basically what I have been doing is putting a pin clasp behind most of them and then putting them on necklace chains. I am doing it like that because then you only need one chain and then you can change out the rosettes easily to match your outfit or mood. these are so much fun to make!

See! I thought it was a good idea, then you can buy one super cute chain and just wear it with different rosettes.  I have also made a few into headbands, I love the stretchy bungee type headbands, they are so cute! Also I gave my mom one that looks like the red and white rosette and she uses it as a brooch she just pinned it on her coat and now her coat is all jazzed up!

So I am starting an etsy shop so if you are interested in buying these they are going for $8.00 on Etsy for a headband or necklace, whichever you want. But If you a follower of my blog you can get them for $6.00. I would post a link for my etsy shop, but its still in the process of being set up. I am having technical difficulties getting the pics on there. Apparently I have to shrink the pictures. Which I don't know how to do. I need my husband's MAC. So the etsy shop will be up shortly. But if your interested in buying one contact me and you can ge the discount price! Nessapierson@gmail.com

But anyway look at what I was given! Magnet boards, aren't they so cute!! I am so excited to hang them up they are both so cute.

My friend Addison gave me this one

And my aunt Lori gave me this one!

They are so cute. I love them.

I looked at them a bit to see how they were made and all you get is a magnet board or some type of metal board (I know Addison got hers at the Wood Connection. A place where I have yet to go, but am dying to see!) And then you get some cute scrapbooking paper and then mod podge it on there. (Do you like how i used mod podge as a verb?) Then to make the magnets Addison used brads, cut off the pokey things and glued a magnet to them. Lori cut out metal squares or bought metal, not sure which put some cute vinyl on there and glued a magnet to the back. Top it off with some ribbon and you are good to go! I love them ladies, thanks so much!

I was featured!!

I am so excited, my recipe for the slow cooker pulled pork was featured on another blog.

Its my first time being featured on another blog for anything and I am so happy.
Dana was super nice and invited me to her cute blog's linky party that they had last week, and then she featured my bbq pork recipe. I have had my blog since August, but I just barely started branching out, I originally intended it to be a more family blog, but then I started crafting and posting recipes and found the whole fun world of blog land. So my little blog is growing and I am so excited.
But I really love Saturday Mornings blog, they are holding a giveaway for $50 American Express giveaway so you should go there... NOW.

I have recently had a few more followers too, and I just wanted to say Hello to all my new friends and I look forward to getting to know all of you more!
I also use exclamation points alot, so I am sorry about that, its a bad habit, haha.
